Episode 5 - Morgan Leach Executive Director Of The WV Farmers Co-op & CEO of Agricarb Electric (Among Many Others)

by WV Green Is The New Black

Why use up the forests which were centuries in the making and the mines which required ages to lay down, if we can get the equivalent of forest and mineral products in the annual growth of the hemp fields? – Henry Ford

On this podcast Morgan Leach and I sat down to discuss the new hemp law going into effect on July 1st as well as his vision for the West Virginia Hemp Industry in the coming months and years.  With Morgan’s background as an attorney, we had originally planned on discussing the laws and procedures surrounding hemp that go into effect on July 1st, as well as SB386 and how the Medical Cannabis Act works in its current format, and ideas on how we can make it better prior to it going into effect.  However, once we got on the hemp industry and the WV Farmer’s Co-Op an hour plus went by.

There is a ton of great information about the economic potential of hemp in West Virginia, and the best news is that almost anyone can find a way to make money in the industry right now.  There are opportunities in farming, processing, manufacturing, retail, and so much more.  So grab a notebook (or at least listen a few times) because a lot gets covered in a very short amount of time.  We will be sitting down again very soon to dive deeper into the legal issues, so if you have questions send them our way or reach out to Morgan directly.

Enjoy the podcast!

“Prohibition… goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man’s appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes… A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.”                     – Abraham Lincoln
